Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya bears the sacred name of Sri Ramakrishna and is run by the esteemed organization Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, which was founded by Swami Vivekananda himself with the objective - “one’s own salvation and for the welfare of the world”. Vivekananda’s concept of ‘Man making and character building education’ is our guiding light. In Tripura our Vidyalaya has been carrying a uniform track record of quality education with high moral values for twenty five years.

In order to promote harmony and cooperation between the tribal and non-tribal populations of Tripura, the educational complex located in Viveknagar, West Tripura district, was officially opened on May 29, 1989, by Revered Sreemat Swami Bhuteshanandaji Maharaj, the twelfth President of Ramakrishna Math and Mission.

In the presence of the then-Governor of Tripura, Sri K.V. Raghunath Reddy, and the former Chief Minister, Sri Sudhir Ranjan Majumder, this exceptional educational facility was opened on September 11, 1990, by Revered Sreemat Swami Gahananandaji Maharaj, the General Secretary of Ramakrishna Math and Mission. September 11th, which is known as Foundation Day, is particularly important since it is the day when Swami Vivekananda gave his well-known speech at the World’s Parliament of Religions in Chicago in 1893.

Situated approximately 9 miles from Agartala city, the complex provides a panoramic vista extending over 61 acres of 90% lush land. With 100 pupils, four dedicated instructors, and four office workers, the Vidyalaya had its start under the direction of Swami Shukadevanandaji Maharaj, who served as principal, and Swami Shantidanandaji Maharaj, who served as secretary. Later, the school profited from the creative and energetic leadership of a few monastic monks as well as the commitment of the teaching and non-teaching personnel. The school’s 25 years of devoted service have been concluded with success. The school works to prepare its pupils to be responsible Indian citizens.

Mission for Achievement Statement of our Vidyalaya

“The School intends to develop more engaged, interested, expressive pupils with strong moral values and passion for the country by 2022, as our nation approaches its 75th anniversary of independence. More digital classrooms will be available to the pupils, coupled with a welcoming environment for learning. We’ll go a step closer to creating a cleaner, greener school campus.

Pledge of our Vidyalaya

“Every Indian is my brother since I am an Indian. My brother is the Indian who reads and writes, the one who doesn’t read and write, the wealthy and the poor, the tribal and non-tribal, the harijan and hilly, the Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, Christian, Jain, Sikh, and Parsi Indian. My life is the Indian, and the Indian is my brother. India’s land is my ultimate heaven, and its goodness is my own. I promise that my country’s safety, security, honor, and welfare will always and forever come first in all of my thoughts and activities.”
