Eligibility Condition: 10+ 2 or equivalent examination of a Board/University estd. by Law in India with pass in four written subjects (including English) with 33% marks
OR
Provided that a student seeking admission to BA-I with Mathematics as one of the subject of study, should have either 45% marks in aggregate or 45 % marks in Mathematics at +2 level.

Subject Combinations

Along with General English (compulsory subject) student has to opt for two elective subjects from the following combinations, taking care not to select both subjects from the same line:

2. Commercial Art/Economics/Painting/Kathak Dance/Music Vocal/Music Instrumental/Home Science.

B.A.II (+3 Pass Course):

 Student will have to study the same subjects which are taken by her in BA-I.  No change of subjects is allowed in BA-II.

B.A. HONOURS


B.A Hon’s (English) I year

The College offers Honours degree only in the subject of English. Rules governing admission to this course are as under:

  1. Minimum percentage of marks for admission to B.A. English (Hons.) shall be 55% in aggregate or 60% in the subject of English in any one of the following examinations:
    • +2 examination
    • or
    • b) An equivalent thereto of a Board / University established by law in India with pass in four written subject, including English.
    • c) +2 examination of the National Open School with pass in all five subjects including English.
    • A Science student at the level of +2 examinations, wanting to shift to Bachelor of Arts faculty with English Honours, should have passed 10+2 examination with English as compulsory subject and minimum of 60% marks in aggregate. Eligibility for admission to B.A Honours (English) II/III year:
  2. a) Student shall have secured a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in the annual examinations of previous classes, i.e. I/II year.
  3. Students applying through other institutions recognized by HPU shall have a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate +2 as well as the above stipulated qualification.
  4. Admission to B.A Honours (English) course depends upon the availability of the teaching staff.
  5. Honours course shall be started only if the minimum number of the students opting for Honours is five.

  6. A candidate who has compartment at +2 level or equivalent examination there to shall not be eligible for admission to the Honours course.

CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION

Important: All admissions are provisional subject to rules and regulations and approval of the H.P. University. The college assumes no responsibility in the case the admission of a student is not approved by the University due to any reason whatsover, i.e., giving incomplete/false information, certificates, concealing necessary facts or choosing wrong combination of subjects, etc. Consult the admission committees to confirm the eligibility of the candidate. Parents/Guardian of the student must accompany her at the time of admission to the college.


ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS (B.A./B.Sc./B.Com.I)

1 Must have passed +2 examination or equivalent of a Board/Univ. established by law in India, with pass in four written subjects, including English. However, students from National Open School will be eligible for admission to B.A.I only if they have cleared all the five subjects including English.
2 Students from the vocational stream can get admission to BA/B.Com/B.Sc.I without having Maths/Eco and Maths./Bio., as the case may be, as one of the compulsory subjects at +2 level, provided she has the requisite pass percentage.
3 a). Minimum percentage of marks for admission to Science is 50%.
b). Minimum percentage of marks for admission to B.Com.I is 45% in +2 examination with either Mathematics or Economics as one of the subjects; 40% in +2 examination with commerce subject.
Note: The minimum percentage for admission to B.Sc.I and B.Com.I shall be relaxed by 5% in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe.
4 Students placed under compartment in +2 class will be eligible for admission in Ist year of 3 year degree course in Arts if she obtains :
a). Minimum 20% marks in the subject of compartment OR
b). 40% marks in aggregate after including 33% marks in the subject of compartment.
5 Applicants not admitted in the Science course due to limitation of seats and not figuring in the merit list may seek admission in the Humanities (Arts) subjects well before the last date for admission.
6 Twice failed in any class and fail in all subjects will not be re-admitted to the college. (ord. 3.4)
7 Students migrating to B.A.II must ensure that the syllabus studied by them in the previous recognized University is identical to that of the H.P.U.
8 A gap of one year in studies requires an affidavit. A gap of more than one year will not be entertained. 
9 RL/CS candidates will be given provisional admission to the same class till declaration of results and promotion; RLA candidates will be provisionally admitted to the next class and those with RLL are directed to seek admission in previous class before last date of admission as and when they are declared 'pass'. 
10 A candidate who has attained 25 years of age on July1, 2010 will not be admitted to B.A/B.SC/B.Com.I.The       upper age limit will be raised by 3years for SC/ST candidates.
11 Change  of subjects /subject combination is allowed only with the permission of the principal with in 14days from the last date of admission. Applications for change must be made on the prescribed form, along with a fee of 5/-per subject. Change of Faculty is allowed only from commerce/Science group to Arts and not vice versa.   
12 Candidates  admitted  in the college should deposit the dues (fees) in time, failing which the admission will stand cancelled. 
13 Foreign students will be admitted  only if they have a valid student Visa for admission to this institution.  
14 Those students whose character and conduct not found satisfactory during the previous  year will not be given     admission. 
15 The College Admission Committee grant admission on merit basis depending upon the number of seats              available.  
16 In no case will the admission be made after the last date notified.  
17 The forms with over-writing and cutting will not be accepted.  
Note:The principal has the power to refuse or terminate any admission if the conduct of a student during her stay in the college is found unsatisfactory.

FEE SCHEDULE
College Fee and other charges are to be paid on dates notified by the college office for each class. If a student fails to pay her fees till the months in which the fees and fines are charged, her name will be struck off the college rolls. The re-admission fee of Rs. 100/- the first time and Rs.200 the second time will be charged. Rejoining, however is at the discretion of the Principal. No Tuitionss fee would be charged from Bonafide Himachali Girl Students (Attach Bonafide Certificate)

1. Rs. 180/-per annum will be charged from the students opting for Geog/Psycho/Com. Art/ Painting/Phy. Edu. / Sculpture / Music in BA I,II & III.
2. Rs. 300/- per annum will be charged from the students opting for Home Science in BA I,II & III.
3. Rs. 180/- per annum will be charged from the students of B.Com. III , B.Sc. III (Non-Medical) and Students of BA III with Maths as Computer Practical Fee.
4. Migration Fee : Rs. 50/-will be charged as migration fee  from the students who have passed their +2 other than HP Board.
5. Late admission Fee Rs. 10/- per day will be charged after 10th June 2011 upto 20th June 2011 and after that no admission will be allowed.
6. Re-admission fee first time: Rs.100/-
Re-admission fee second time: Rs. 200/-
7. For issuing duplicate Identity Card Rs.20/- will be charged.

Absence &other Fines for all students
Note
  1. In addition to above Fee and Funds Tuition Fee of Rs.600.00 will be charged from non Himachali Candidates.
  2. The above fee and funds are subject to change as per HPU/HP Govt. instructions.
  3. Funds once deposited are not refundable in any case.
  4. Students migrating from other colleges will have to deposit full fee and funds.

HOUSE EXAMINATION AND LECTURE ATTENDANCE

It is compulsory to fulfil Lecture Attendance and House Test conditions as laid down by the University. The counting of lecture/attendance will start from the notified date. In case any student fails for fulfil any condition, she will not be allowed to sit in the Annual Examination as per Resolution No. 22 of the Academic Council of H.P. University passed on 23.03.1982.
  1. It is obligatory for all students to take the class tests given by the subject teachers from time to time in addition to one House Examination to be held by the college.
  2. As per the decision on the Academic Council of H.P. University in its meeting held on 07.03.1981 a student on the rolls of the college shall be eligible to be admitted to the University Examination, if she secures in the House Examination:
  • 20% marks in each subject; or
  • And has attained 75% of the total lectures delivered in each of the subjects taken in theory as well as in practicals.
Note : House Examination will be held in the month of November, 2009

ACADEMIC PRIZES

Prizes are awarded at the Annual Prize Distribution Function of the College for obtaining First and Second position in the aggregate as well as in individual subjects both in pass course and Honours in the Annual Examination, provided a student has).(1) Passed in all the subjects offered and (ii). Obtained a minimum of 50% in the subject in which the academic prize is claimed.
A student securing a position in the Merit List of the University is awarded a Roll of Honour and a prize.
A student having 100 percent attendance in any subject may get a prize.
Outstanding performance in Sports, NCC, NSS, Cultural activities etc. will also be awarded prizes as per the rules in force from time to time.

SCHOLARSHIP

  1. Nirmal Bail Scholarship. (for very Poor Student).
  2. I.R.D.P. Scholarship.
  3. Maharishi Balmiki Chhatravriti Yojna.
  4. Students belonging to Scheduled Castes/Tribes and Backward Classes are eligible for various types of Scholarship admissible under rules.
